FASD Central Awareness Day
21/05/2010Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) refers to a continum of permanent birth defects caused by a mother consuming alcohol during pregnancy.
Thursday, May 13, the Women's Center along with various community organizations travelled to Springdale to host a FASD Central Awareness Day.
The event was well attended by approximately 20 youth, both male and female. The evening began with a presentation on FASD, leading into the youth viewing several display boards from the participating organizations and then ending with a pizza party where there was discussion and interaction.
There was a very important message sent that day and the Women's Center are pleased to be a part of reaching out and educating our youth.
